The New Life Center was awarded the ECHO “Empowering Communities for Healthy Outcomes” grant in October 2015. This is a 5 year grant with a goal to reduce impaired driving in Jasper County. The Jasper County TRUST – Teaching & Reaching Until Safety Triumphs coalition has been formed. The Jasper County TRUST coalition meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 9am at the Morris Center for Lowcountry Heritage in Ridgeland. The coalition is open to anyone who would like to participate. Jasper County TRUST along with New Life Center have partnered with Ridgeland Police Department, Hardeeville Police Department, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, and SC Highway Patrol to increase the perception of risk and harm of being caught while driving impaired in Jasper County. Jasper County TRUST along with New Life Center has also partnered with local merchants to offer PREP “Palmetto Retailers Education Program” as a proactive strategy to reduce underage alcohol access. Jasper County TRUST along with New Life Center are partnering with local schools – Step of Faith Christian Academy, Ridgeland-Hardeeville High School, and Thomas Heyward Academy to implement a youth curriculum in the fall which focuses on underage drinking and driving.
